A letter from our
Operations Manager

Already qualified and experienced? Great.
Never worked in the outdoor industry before? So what.
What really matters is who you are.

Every year we recruit over 300 seasonal staff for our centres across Europe, and it’s not just highly qualified instructors we are looking for. We also need cooks, shopkeepers, drivers, administrators, the list goes on. While relevant qualifications are an advantage, they are not essential. What you must be is hard working. You should also be reliable, happy and outgoing with a passion for working with young people. I demand high standards and expect you to be proud of who you are and of the work you do. If you are all of the above then the rest will fall into place.

Acorn Team
When you come to work with us you will become part of what I see as an extended family. Acorn
is certainly not a faceless organisation. We pride ourselves on knowing all our staff on an individual basis, which helps us build relationships with you and hopefully encourages you to return year after year. My management team and I can often be found touring the centres meeting the troops and the clients – an important way of getting to know you and listening to what you have to say.

Work hard, play hard!
Leave your comfort zones behind! We are an adventure company and real adventure is what we deliver for both our clients and our staff! There will be some tough times: it can rain, the wind will blow, at some centres temperatures can soar, the hours are long and the chances are that you won’t be buying that new Porsche any time soon. But what an experience you’re going to have! You will be paid for having fun, learning new skills, making loads of new friends and most importantly you will have a profound impact on many young people’s lives… Come to experience it for yourself and you will
see what a positive difference you can make in just a week of young person’s life.
We also do our best to encourage the best performance from our team. Employees who excelled last season are being sent on a subsidised trip to India, white-water rafting and trekking - while another group are planning to go skiing in Italy!

It’s a chance of a lifetime!
When I tell people about what I do, I often hear “I wish I’d done something like that!” or “Why can’t I spend six months in the South of France instead of sitting in rush hour traffic every morning?”
Well the truth is they can. You can. This could be the beginning of a very exciting journey for you.
So give it a go, seize the moment; make everyone you know say “I wish I’d done that!”
