Senior Instructor

Holding one or more of the following qualifications:

BCU Level 3 Coach (Kayak or Canoe)
RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor
MLTB Assessed
RYA Windsurf Level 2 Instructor

You will be a responsible, fun-loving and dynamic Instructor, ideally holding at least one of the key N.G.B. awards above. You may have extra responsibilities relevant to your specialist activity and assist the Activity Manager with the implementation of the activities programme. You will be an excellent communicator, a people leader and able to motivate and manage those around you by example.

River Leader -
(Ardèche)

BCU Level 3 Coach (Canoe) or Level 3 kayak + 4 star canoe

River Leaders are solely employed at our centre in Labeaume, France for the specific task of leading of the 2-day descent in the Ardeche Gorge (Grade 2). River Leaders are responsible paddlers, able to supervise and motivate groups and Instructors on this exciting and very scenic descent, organise certain aspects of the water operation and deliver fun-filled days on the river.

River Leader -
(Brecon Beacons)

BCU Level 3 Coach (Canoe) or
Level 3 kayak + 4 star canoe

A River Leader is required to paddle a section of the River Wye. The River Leader is responsible for the paddlers, able to supervise and motivate groups and instructors on this stretch of river. Organise certain aspects of the water operation and deliver fun filled days.

Instructor

Holding one or more of the following qualifications:

BCU Level 2 Training & above (Canoe or Kayak)
RYA Dinghy Instructor
RYA Windsurf Level 1 Instructor
SPA Training & above
ML Training & above
Holders of Land Based NGB’s, eg GNAS, BFA

Holding key NGB qualifications, you will be responsible for the delivery of safe and enjoyable activity taster sessions with some opportunities to operate at an intermediate level. You will be required to take part in some of the evening entertainment programmes as, at Acorn, we feel this is an important part of our guests’ experience. This rewarding position is ideally suited to those who have bags of energy, ooze enthusiasm and want to share their skills, delivering a fantastic outdoor experience to young people using a fun and caring style.

Assistant Instructor

Holding one or more of the following qualifications:

BCU 2-3 Star Award (Canoe or Kayak)
RYA Level 3 or Seamanship Skills and above
Evidence of Outdoor Experience / Skills

This exciting new position allows applicants not holding National Governing Body Instructor qualifications to gain a foothold on the ladder of the Instructor career path. For those of you who would like an opportunity to get your “foot through the door”, you will need to demonstrate your sense of fun, hard work, enthusiasm, loyalty and a willingness to learn the skills required to help progress your career. Applicants will be keen to show that they have good communication skills and in return we will invest the time, training and experience of a season’s work at one of our adventure centres.
